Asclepias tuberoosa
(Butterfly Weed) Height/Spread: 2-3' (60-90)/2' (60cm) Location: Well-drained sandy soil Blooms: July to August Butterfly Weed is native to North America where it is very drought tolerant. Bright orange blooms appear in early summer and attract butterflies. The Monarch Butterfly depends entirely on this plant for its food source. Plants prefer sandy, well-drained soil and are very drought tolerant. |

| Cimicifuga racemosa 'Brunette" (Bugbane) Height: 5-7' Location: Prefers a rich, moist soil. Blooms: August to September Use: cut wildflowers, borders, massing The dark purple foliage of this eastern North America native is striking in any garden. The pale pink flowers bloom in late summer into early fall and are fragrant. All Bugbanes prefer a rich, moist humusy soil in a woodland setting. Avoid disturbing established clumps. |

Hemerocallis
(Daylillies) With over twenty thousand named varieties of Daylilies, you shouldn't have any problem finding one that suites your garden. Extensive breeding over the last fifty years has developed varieties that will rebloom and have extended bloom periods. Daylilies perform well in perennial and shrub borders, massing as a ground cover, or planted in large containers. We carry a large selection of hybrid daylilies including Trophytakers, Designer Daylilies, and the Happily Ever Appster series. |

Heliopsis helianthiodes 'Loraine Sunshine' (False Sunflower) Height: 3-4' Location: Average, well-drained soil Blooms: June to October Uses: Cut flowers, borders massing A new selection from Blooms of Bressingham with variegated foliage, creamy white with dark green edges. Large golden-yellow daisy flowers bloom in July and last into the fall. |

Hosta Species
(Hosta, Plantain Lily) Hosta are shade loving perennials that have also found their use in part to full sun. Forming a large clump of lush foliage and tall lily-like flowers in mid-summer. Hosta are easily divided in the Spring or early fall. One major problem associated with Hosta are slugs and snails. Hand-picking, trapping or baiting along with mulching with course sand or gravel will keep slugs to a minimum. Used in edging or groundcovers and in case of larger varieties as specimen plants in perennial beds or containers. |

| Lobelia cardinalis (Cardinal Flower) Height: 3-4' Location: Rich, moist, well-drained soil Blooms: July to September Uses: Cut flowers, borders, massing This showy late-summer flowering perennial does well in wet areas and will self seed and naturalize an area. Plants have bright green coarse foliage forming a low clump with upright spikes of scarlet-red flowers in mid-summer. Hummingbirds love it! |

Salvia verticillata 'Purple Rain'
(Perennial Salvia, Sage) Height: 18" Location: Average well-drained soil Blooms: June-July Uses: cut flower, massing, border A tender selection from Europe that form a bushy mound of fuzzy green leaves. Upright stems rise above the foliage, holding rich, violet-purple flowers. Deadhead for continual bloom. |

| 2003 Leucanthemum 'Becky' Light: Full sun, tolerant of partial shade Soil: Growth is optimum in moist, well, drained soil. Uses: This Shasta Daisy is valued for its long bloom season making it a good choice for both formal and informal gardens. The florist will find 'Becky' is an excellent cut flower. Unique Qualities: Leucantheum 'Becky' provides great garden color from July to September. It is known for its adaptability to northern and southern gardens. The sturdy stems ensure good garden presence throughout the season. |

| 2002 Phlox - 'David' Light: Full sun to partial shade. Soil: Growth is optimal in moist, well-drained, fertile soils. Uses: well loved for its long bloom season. It may be used for in formal or informal gardens alike. Blue flowers highlight the white flowers of Phlox 'David" Unique Qualities: Provides great garden color and sweet fragrance from July through September. Known for its powdery mildew resistance. |

| 2001 Calamagrostis xacutiflora - 'Karl Foerster' Light: Full sun to partial shade. Soil: optimal growth in well drained, fertile soil, but will tolerate heavy clay soils. Uses: ornamental grass used as a specimen, contrasts low-mounded shrubs and perennials. Hedges and screens can be created. Also used for fresh and dried arrangements. Unique Qualities: Provides movement in the border. In early June, inflorescences appear atop lush green foliage. Flowers first appear light pink turning to golden tan. Easy to grow and stays ornamental through winter. |
