...this months Design Focus is on Bridal Bouquets...
Form:
Think about how you want to hold your bouquet; cradled in the curve of your arm or perhaps hanging down informally at your sides or directly in front of you? Do you want the piece to cascade in a crescent or teardrop shape? Do you want its form to be round or elongated?

Style:
Once you've thought about how you'd like to hold the piece, consider its styling. If you'd like the piece to cascade, do you want its style to be traditional teardrop shaped, with clean, elegant lines or do you want a looser style, garden-like with a less defined shape? This choice is highly personal and will have alot to do with the styling of your dress and the occasion as a whole. Is it a highly formal surrounding? Is your dress highly embellished already? Are you looking for simplicity of style or an opulent expression of style for your special day? Don't forget accent details like buttons and ribbon work can set the style as much as the flowers themselves.

Trends:
Color for brides is in! Bringing photos of bouquets you like is always extremely helpful. However, it's a good idea to see those same flowers in real life even in their same combination. Often photos misrepresent exact colors (end even sizes). A current trend that has gained popularity is the use of a hand tied "stemmed" bouquet. The technique, as seen in many publications, does have some limitations. There are however some "tricks of the trade" to enable us to recreate a stemmed bouquet that will look beautiful using even the most delicate varieties of flowers.

Hydrangea, gerbera daisies, roses, peonies and hycinth clustered in a neat ball form.
Freesia, roses, mini callas and bouvardia in a clean-styled bridal bouquet.
Mini calla lilies, roses, tulips in a handheld stemmed bouquet.
