...this months Design Focus is on Corsages...
Unique Considerations:
  • There are a few considerations in choosing flowers for the women who are important to the bride - those she would like to honor with something to wear or carry. Asking the recipient is always a good idea.
  • The mother of the bride or groom may have a strong preference as to carrying, pinning on or wearing flowers on her wrist or purse.
  • A sleeveless top or long-sleeved jacket may dictate the selection. Think in terms of having something nice for pictures and something comfortable rather than being a burden.
Form:
Remember the scale of the pieces for Mothers has to fit between a Bridal attendant and someone, for example, attending a guest book or reading in the ceremony. Of course it should also compliment what she's wearing. Often a neutral-look like a champagne or ivory mix of flowers will look best.

Trend:
Hand-held pieces are popular, both "tussywussy" styled and stemmed "cane-style". Grandmothers, Aunts, etc. may love a gardenia or an orchid to remind them of elegant occasions in the past - a classic look and lovely tradition.
